It is very common for the modern office to have a vending machine however, the contents within a vending machine are changing. Tech companies such as Palantir and Hello Patient are at the forefront of this change. These brands are now purchasing nicotine pouches and other products that are believed to help improve concentration.

Two Nicotine Startups, Lucy and Sesh, have installed branded vending machines in Palantir’s Washington DC office. The employees of these offices then have access to these nicotine pouches to help them concentrate and remain focused at work. This is because there have been a number of studies which have shown to improve concentration.

A Safer Alternative To Previous Products

Over the years, offices have tried everything to help their employees remain focused in the workplace. Some of these have been legal, and others have been illegal. Tobacco-related products have been legal in the past, but they are no longer used in the modern workplace. This is exactly why we have seen a significant increase in other nicotine products such as vapes, nicotine gum and pouches. Some of the leading brands such as Zyn, On! And Velo Pouches are very popular amongst workers in the States.

Now, we are seeing more brands than ever before, especially in the office. Nicopods are completely legal when it comes to using them in the office. Not just that, but they are discreet products that are placed inside your gum and cannot be seen. Plus, they don’t produce any smoke like cigarettes and electronic vapes.

Why Are These Brands In Palantir’s Office?

Both of these pouches are available to the employees of the offices, which for some people, could be a slippery slope. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance, so it is important that employees are aware of the potential risks. That being said, Palantir works alongside Sesh, and they gave them $40 million to assist them in scaling up. The reason why they had such an investment is that the Co-Founder, Joe Lonsdale, believed people want a smoke-free alternative to other products.

What Are Nicopods?

Nicopods are a small pouch that you place inside your mouth which slowly releases nicotine and flavourings inside your mouth over a short period of time. This would typically be between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the strength of the nicotine pouch. These have become increasingly popular because they do not produce smoke when you use them. Not only do these not produce smoke but they are also tobacco-free, which is another reason for their popularity. Within the pouch, it will have a blend of both sweeteners and flavourings, and due to the placement of the pouch, it enters your bloodstream straight away, so you feel the nicotine almost as quickly as when you smoke a cigarette.

The Principle Between Productivity and Health

Despite those brands working with Palantir because they have received investment. That being said, there have been a number of studies which have linked nicotine with improving focus. Similar to how coffee and energy drinks also work, however, they are far less addictive than nicotine.

The short-term effects of nicotine include increased alertness, faster reaction time and temporary improvement in focus. That being said, the long-term effects can actually reduce the baseline of productivity and health over time. This is because the user becomes more addicted to it and dependent on it. The long-term effects of nicotine are clearly not understood at offices like Palantir. Not only this but as their users become more dependent on nicotine, they will look for stronger pouches such as Killa nicopods, meaning the low-strength nicotine pouches in Palantir’s offices and many others will no longer be effective.

To Conclude

Modern companies installing nicotine pouch brands are counterproductive in the long term. These pouches are a good solution for those who are looking to quit smoking, but in the long term, it can affect people’s attention span. Better alternatives for encouraging people to focus more would include a consistent sleep schedule, deep work sessions during working hours (90-120 mins), exercise, controlled caffeine intake, and break management.
